We are a community co-operative that is dedicated to supplying sustainably grown produce
to local people and businesses. Growing in nearly 2 acres of glasshouses, and with a
community composting scheme on site, we pride ourselves on producing the best quality
organic vegetables, salad, and fruits in the region.
Growing with Grace is a cooperative and social enterprise growing and selling organic produce for social,
environmental and financial profit, with financial surpluses primarily reinvested back into the business,
or to shareholder dividends when viable. We are committed to helping sustain local communities,
supporting people and safeguarding the environment through sustainable agriculture.
-
We grow all our crops in compost made on site from local green waste
-
Our delivery vans are fuelled with bio-diesel manufactured
on site from vegetable oil
-
We source our produce in the following order of priority:
own crop / local producers within 40 miles / Yorkshire
and Lancashire / UK / Europe / rest of the world
-
We source 'fair trade' products whenever possible
-
We do not supply any food that is air-freighted
“We have obtained from Growing with Grace a range of salad and vegetables for
some 8 years now. Their produce meets all our needs...
In particular the bags of fresh salad leaves with flowers are wonderful”
--The Traddock, Austwick. 2AA Rosette restaurant; winner of the Best Organic Restaurant Award 2006.
Four related business areas can be identified under the overall role of the cooperative in
producing and supplying the local community with fresh organic produce.
Own-grown Organic Veg
In 5 greenhouses we
grow a wide range of traditional and unusual crops for our bag scheme,
our shop, and our retail and wholesale outlets.
Our glasshouses are a spectacular mix of abundant vegetable
crops and flourishing nature as we cultivate flowers and wildlife as an
essential part of our organic system.

Farm Shop/Market/Veg Bags
We provide local communities with fresh, locally grown organic foods.
We sell directly from the farm shop at the nursery and from our stall
in the local markets, and we operate a veg box scheme delivering "Gold" and
"Choice" bags throughout the area.
We also sell wholesale quantities to local retailers.

Dales & Bowland Compost
Dales & Bowland Compost is a peat-free soil conditioner based on
composted green waste. It is suitable for organic gardeners and growers.
The compost is produced and bagged at the nursery, and can be purchased from the shop.

Courses/Open Days/Workshops
GWG can offer a fantastic learning experience
for both groups of children and interested adults.
We are experienced at receiving school trips with pupils gaining hands-on
experience of organic growing from seed to harvest.

Situated on the A65 trunk road at Clapham, nestling in the wide valley between the Forest of Bowland and the
Yorkshire Dales, the 2.5 acre site comprises 2 acres of glasshouses,
composting production, a shop, and a bio-diesel processing unit.
In 2011 with advice from Cooperative & Mutual Solutions
the Growing With Grace worker-cooperative became a shareholding Industrial & Provident Society.
This structure presents an opportunity for people from local communities
and UK communities of interest to become co-owners of a food enterprise that cares for the environment.
Through its work Growing with Grace aims to:
-
be a centre of excellence for the complete organic growing cycle
-
share and demonstrate ecological values with others
-
practice an ethos that results in equality, respect for the natural environment,
education, honesty, and fair trade in relations between employees,
suppliers, visitors and customers
